School Visits
Ernest Gimson has been described as one of the most inspiring and influential designers of the British arts and crafts movement. As a local artist Gimson responded to the surrounding environment and the social and political changes of the time. His work as an architect, designer and furniture maker is celebrated in this exciting exhibition.
To tie in with the exhibition, we are offering schools the opportunity to take part in unique and interactive sessions for each of the Key Stages.
Opportunities also exist to extend your experience through a linked visit to The City Gallery or Fosse Arts Centre - for further details, see below.
New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
Pupils will be introduced to Ernest Gimson and the Arts & Crafts Movement that he was part of. They will be encouraged to explore and record their experiences of and responses to Gimson’s work within the exhibition. Pupils will then participate in a shared art experience, culminating in unique collective artworks to take back to school.
