Street Cleaning
Throughout the City, a dedicated team of cleansing staff undertake the litter and rubbish removal as well as attending to graffiti and chewing gum removal from the paths and the general upkeep of furniture and signage etc.

All City Centre streets are washed a minimum of three times a year. Litter Wardens patrol the city centre handing out fixed penalty notices to offenders guilty of dropping litter – including gum and cigarette ends.

Leicester City Council has invested in 8 road sweepers, dedicated solely to maintenance in the city centre.  All waste is taken to a waste processing plant where it is separated. Currently in the region of 40% of the city’s waste is recycled.
