The Common, Evington
Only two miles away from the City centre, Evington Park has the tranquil atmosphere of the country esate it once was. The 44 acres of parkland include attractive floral displays and a wide variety of trees. There is a garden with raised beds for disabled people, children’s play area and a picnic area.

Features
Trees are the main feature of Evington Park and you will see fine examples of English Oak and Chestnut. You will also find rare Gingko trees as well as mature beech trees. In the spring, the rhododendron and azalea beds surrounded by fragrant shrubs are a delight.

There are large grassed areas suitable for ball games. For children there is a special ‘Steps to Nature’ statue and a play area.  There are wild life ponds and you can also have fun spotting the animals, birds and butterflies, which live in the park.

The Romans brought Mulberry trees to northern Europe and grew them for their fruit which ripen here in late August. The Black Mulberry at Evington Park was possibly planted in 1836, the year the house was built.
