Local Safeguarding Children Board

The Local Safeguarding Children Board Logo
Area Child Protection Committees (ACPCs) have been replaced by Local Safeguarding Children Boards from April 2006.

The Children Act 2004 placed a new duty on a wide range of organisations to safeguard and promote the welfare of children by working together in partnership and co-operation.

To ensure this happens, each Children’s Services Authority has established a Local Safeguarding Children Board.

Senior managers from a number of organisations that work with children in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland are members of the board.

Although some aspects of what they will be doing are not new, and have previously been undertaken by the Area Child Protection Committee, the Act places greater responsibilities on them as members of the board.
