Children and Family Centres
The City Council has a number Children and Family Centres. They provide a range of services to support families where a child is assessed as 'in need' - as defined by the Children Act 1989.
The services offered include high quality care for children under five years of age on a daily/sessional basis.
Support for parents is provided - both individually and in groups - on managing children's behaviour, child development and other topics that inform and help to build self-esteem.
Family centres work closely with other professionals to meet the special needs of disabled children who attend.
