Why observe parking restrictions?

Parking offences will be classed as civil and not criminal offences.

This new arrangement of dealing with enforcement in the city, is part of a long term plan to improve road safety and increase traffic flow on Leicester's roads and the appearance of the city.

We are asking people to remember when parking:

  • The Highway Code
  • To look at the road markings
  • To check the sign plates by the side of the road
  • Waiting restrictions apply to the whole of the highway including verges and pavements
  • Don't park anywhere that could cause danger to other road users

The majority of drivers do follow the rules by parking in car parks or paying for on road parking. Drivers who park in the wrong place cause congestion, delays and annoyance to other road users.
