City Centre Bus Stop Changes - Haymarket & Belgrave Gate
From 1st September 2008, there will be a number of changes to bus stop locations in the city centre.
You may have noticed the works taking place on Haymarket/Belgrave Gate, these works will result in a reversal of the traffic flow so that all traffic will flow from the roundabout towards the Clock Tower.
This means that the existing bus stops H1 to H9 currently located outside Argos, Iceland etc will be removed. To replace these bus stops, new bus stops and shelters will be installed as follows:
B1 to B4 - four new shelters are being installed on the opposite side of the road in Haymarket/Belgrave Gate between the Clock Tower and the former Haymarket theatre.
B5 - a bus stop will be installed on Church Gate where the flow of traffic will also be reversed.
A1 to A2 - new bus stops with bus shelters will be installed on St Peter’s Lane.
A3 to A9 - seven new bus stops with shelters will be installed on Causeway Lane.
There will be no change to any of the bus stops located in the rest of the city centre.
If you currently catch your bus in Haymarket, H1 to H9, a leaflet has been produced which gives details of where you will be able to catch your bus from 1st September 2008. Please see a copy of this leaflet attached. You can pick up a copy of this leaflet on your bus, from the Arriva or First Travel Shop, city libraries, New Walk Centre Customer Services, Tourist Information Centre or from the Shires or Haymarket shopping centres.
If you currently catch your bus from any other city centre bus stop, from St Margaret’s Bus Station or from the Haymarket Bus Station, there will be no change.
For further details on all bus services and where to catch your bus in the city, look out for the next edition of the Central Leicestershire Bus Map which will be available from 26th August 2008.
