The City Council, in partnership with Leicestershire County Council, has completed the Second Local Transport Plan for Central Leicestershire. It was adopted by the City Council on 16th March 2006. This sets out our plans for traffic and transport during the period 2006 to 2011. This document can be viewed as Adobe PDF in 'Related Documents' through the 'Second Local Transport Plan (2006 -2011)' navigation link on the left.

Our longer-term transport strategy will contribute to Leicester becoming a thriving, modern city where people can live, work and enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor leisure activities. To help us achieve this we have adopted five key objectives with one overarching objective:

  • Tackling Congestion
  • Delivering Accessibility
  • Safer Roads
  • Better Air Quality
  • Better Road, Footway and Cycleway Condition
  • Quality of Life for All
