April 2010
This year's scheme is well underway, with applications currently being scrutinised by the team of assessors. If you have applied please expect a call from one of the assessors to arrange an appointment to visit your premises.
The awards night will be held on Tuesday 8th June 2010.
June 2009
The awards ceremony took place on 16 June at City Rooms. Once again, Willie Thorne and Steve Walsh were excellent comperes for the night, which was a true celebration of the hard work put in by all the accredited premises. June 2009
The online vote has now finished. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony on 16 June. Details of all winners will be published on this website the following day.
May 2009
The online vote is now available. Members of the public can view the list of applicants for this year's scheme, and vote for the one they think is the best. Voting will take place from 1st to 29th May.
The application period has now closed, and assessors are in the process of visiting applicants to carry out formal assessments.
April 2009
Assessments are now well under way, but there may still be time to join the 60+ premises that have already applied.
The awards night will be on Tuesday 16 June and promises to be a great night. Applicants will all be invited to attend, although numbers will be limited.
February 2009
Applications are arriving in the Licensing section. Assessors will soon be contacting the applicants to arrange to visit and carry out the formal assessment. If you want to apply you must contact the Licensing section NOW, as time is running out!!

An advertising campaign has begun in the run up to Christmas and the new year. The aim is to promote accredited venues as a great venue for a night out. Look out for the adverts on taxis and telephone kiosks!

Leicester Best Bar None has won an award for being the most innovative scheme in the country. The council's Licensing section entered the Leicester scheme into the competition and were short-listed by judges in advance of the first national conference for Best Bar None. The four finalists all gave a presentation at the conference and delegates voted that Leicester was the most innovative scheme. The award was accompanied by £2,500 from the Home Office, which will be used to fund the scheme in 2009.

The Best Bar None awards took place at the City Rooms on Wednesday 18 June, and the event was a big success. The press release is available at the bottom of this page. A photo gallery of the awards night will appear on this website soon, so watch this space!

Several hackney carriages are out and about on the streets of Leicester advertising the Best Bar None awards scheme. Street banners have also gone up. Both of these campaigns will continue beyond the awards ceremony on 18 June.

There have been 72 applications for Best Bar None 2008 - a fantastic response from the licensed trade in Leicester. A team of assessors is visiting premises to evaluate the applications.
The online vote will go live on this website next Monday, 21 April. The vote will be open until early June but you will only be able to vote once, so choose carefully!
The awards scheme will be advertised on hackney carriages starting from the end of next week, and street banners will start appearing in May.

Applications are continuing to arrive in the Licensing section. 61 have been received so far, with more expected. Assessors are working through the applications, and visiting venues to to evaluate each premises.
The closing date for applications to be received in the Licensing section is Friday 18 April 2008. Soon after this date, the online vote will go live. This will give members of the public the opportunity to vote for the venue they think is the best in Leicester. Keep watching this page for details!!
Promotion of this year's Best Bar None awards is also under way. Look out for hackney carriages with the Best Bar None logo appearing on the streets later this month.
