Best Bar None
The Leicester Best Bar None Awards Scheme is organised through collaboration between Leicester City Council, Leicestershire Constabulary and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service, together with the licensed trade.
The scheme aims to reward venues that are well managed and that take customer safety seriously. All of Leicester's city centre pubs, bars and clubs that entered the scheme have been judged on various categories based around the practical promotion of the four licensing objectives; prevention of crime and disorder, prevention of public nuisance, public safety and the prevention of harm to children.
The Best Bar None scheme is voluntary. Pubs, bars and clubs that chose to participate completed an application form that was initially be audited by assessors. The council's Licensing team, Leicestershire Constabulary and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service then added their experience and expertise in dealing with the venue during the previous year.
In 2008, awards were given for the best pub, best club, best bar and best family friendly venue. In 2009 this was extended to recognise the contribution of independent operators. There was an online vote on this website, which gave members of the public the opportunity to vote for the best venue from those that have applied. The Leicester Mercury ran an online vote for the most family friendly premises.
All accredited premises were presented with a certificate and an award at the awards night on Tuesday 16 June 2009. They also received a plaque for display showing that they have been accredited this year.
If you want to enjoy a good, safe night out in Leicester, the venues displaying the accreditation plaque and listed on this website will be able to offer you just that. Make a positive choice for safe night out.
