The Gambling Commission was established in October 2005 and has taken over the functions of the Gaming Board for Great Britain. The Commission is responsible for regulating gaming and certain lotteries in relation to the Gambling Act 2005.
From 2007, the Commission will be responsible for granting operating and personal licences for commercial gambling operators, along with other functions, including specifying conditions and issuing code of practices.
