Bulk collections for excess domestic material

Bulky collection

All householders in Leicester are entitled to one free collection of up to five items of bulky material every two months. When you make your booking we can advise you of a definite day of collection. Households will be charged for the removal of over five items (up to 30 items) and the charge will depend on the number of items collected which will be advised when the request is made.

Fridges and freezers will be collected free of charge.

Bulky materials such as whole kitchen and bathroom replacements are not accepted for this service. Also, we do not collect vehicle or similar batteries and paints. These have to taken to our Community Recycling Centres.

Garden materials: Householders are entitled to a free collection of garden materials every two months, up to a maximum of 15 items. An 'item' of garden material is one which is bundled or bagged and can reasonably be lifted by one person. These items are taken to Biffa at Wanlip to make high grade compost. A Free for all Compost Event takes place annually to thank Leicester Residents for their contribution of garden materials. If you can compost at home remember to get your subsidised compost bin

Garden waste such as paving slabs, brick rubble, cut down trees (not branch prunings) and soil are not accepted for this service.

Domestic bulky waste and garden materials can also be taken for free disposal to our community recycling centres.
