Community Cohesion in Leicester - Key Documents

 

With a foreword by the Cabinet lead for Community Cohesion the document sets out what everyone can do to promote cohesion, what it means, why it is important how we are doing, how it is being led and managed and what actions are being taken.

 

 

     This report is the major review of community cohesion in Leicester conducted

     by the Scrutiny Community Cohesion and Safety Task Group in 2008.

 

 

 

 

Undertaken in autumn 2003, this consultation was with the residents of Leicester, voluntary, community groups and faith groups. Along with the IDeA Report this report identified the major themes for community cohesion in Leicester.

 

After the disturbances in the northern cities in 2001, the City Council commissioned the Improvement and Development Agency to examine and report on community relations in Leicester. The focus was on race, faith and ethnicity issues.

     the theme of ethnic diversity. It includes population statistics, estimates of

     current ethnic minority populations, as well as socio-ecomonic and community

     cohesion information.

 New Communities in Leicester

 

     This report collects the local, regional and national evidence indicating the

     presence of predominantly Polish people now living in Leicester.

     (A8 = European Union accession countries Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania,

     Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia).

 

     This report provides evidence of the presence in the city of substantial

     numbers if Slovakian Roma people, Zimbabweans and Portuguese - along

     with Afghan, Turkish, Kurdish, Iraqi, Daman and Sri Lankan (Tamil speaking  

     Muslim) people.    

 

  • Somali Focus Groups, 2006

    This report covers the extensive interviews with 5 groups of Somali people as part of the MORI 2005 Residents Survey, booster sample of the Somali community in Leicester.
