Leicester People's Panel

Leicester People's Panel

What is the Leicester People's Panel?

It’s a list of residents of Leicester who are willing and able to comment on issues affecting daily life in Leicester.

How will I be asked to participate?

Focus Groups

You may be invited to an informal small discussion group once or twice a year. These usually each involve around 10-20 people.

Questionnaires/Surveys

We will send out questionnaires or survey forms 2 or 3 times each year to fill in and return by post. On some occasions you may be contacted by phone or email.

How Often

This will vary, depending on the type of consultation or survey.

How many people belong to the Panel?

We are aiming to get a panel of 1000 residents who broadly represent the population of the City. We’d like all age groups, ethnic groups and a balance of both men and women.

Why is it important that I join?

We want to know the views of the residents of Leicester - the people who live here, who bring up their children here, who go to the doctor’s, and who know their part of the City, how it works and how they want it to be.

We want our People’s Panel to represent the residents of Leicester and to be able to reflect the pulse of the City on any given issue.

In this way, by adding your voice, you can help improve all of our lives.

What will I be asked to comment on?

Whatever issues and topics arise where our partners want to consult the residents of Leicester, for example crime, education, housing, health, sports and leisure.

What happens to my views?

Your opinions, ideas and comments are very valuable and will contribute significantly to the final decisions on issues. However, often what you say to us is part of a much longer process of consultation.

We will provide regular feedback on our consultations and surveys via the People’s Panel Newsletter. The Newsletter is sent out to all panel members and includes news and information on various topics of interest.
