Welcome to the Area-Based Grant Review pages.
The Area Based Grant Review is an evaluation process designed to assess the impact that services currently funded through the Area Based Grant are having.
It will look at how services are meeting local priorities to improve outcomes for children and young people in Leicester.
The Area Based Grant is a funding stream that is used to support the Local Area Agreement (LAA) priorities, overseen by Leicester Partnership and managed through the City Council.
The funding is not new money but is made up of pooled budgets that have in previous years been granted to the Authority and other agencies for specific purposes. The ring fencing of these grants for specific purposes has been lifted as they were pooled, and there is an expectation on Local Partnerships that this money will be used in different ways into the future, in line with local priorities.
Decision making and timescales
It was expected that the ABG review reports would have been completed by the end of January 2010. All reports need to have been through the ABG review board and then final recommendations about all reviews would go to the Invest in our Children Priority Board at the end of January.
Sadly, this timescale has not been met and delays have occurred.
Instead, it is planned that the final report containing all recommendations about all reviews will go to the Priority Board on 24th February 2010. They will have been through the ABG review board for scrutiny before this date.
The team are disappointed with the delay and realise the impact that this has on many projects.
For those involved in contracts or funding agreements that are due to run out on 31st March 2010, the ABG review board are recommending that a minimum of three months extension be issued to any service facing a withdrawal of funding. This recommendation will be put to the Invest in our Children Priority Board on 24th February alongside the full recommendations.
