Holding your partnership ceremony at an approved venue for civil partnership

Your first step should be to make a reservation with the venue of your choice.  The staff at the venue should be able to tell you which local authority is responsible for the area in which your chosen venue is located.  You will then need to contact that Register Office to arrange for civil partnership Registrars to be allocated for your ceremony.

At the time of contacting the particular Register Office the ceremonies team will advise you of the attendance fee payable for the registration officers to conduct and register your partnership at the approved venue.  He/she will also advise you on how to begin the legal preliminaries for your partnership by giving what is known as your “notice of intention”.

We are fortunate in the City of Leicester in being able to offer a wide variety of venues where you can celebrate your civil partnership.  A list of buildings that are currently licensed for civil ceremonies in the city is shown below.*
