How much will it cost to get married?

The various fees for getting married are set out below:

Two notices of intention to marry :                                                      £70.00
(one for each of you @ £35.00 per notice)

Wedding at a Register Office :                                                             £49.00
(including the issue of 1 marriage certificate)

Attendance of a registrar at a Religious Building to register                £88.00
the religious marriage (including the issue of 1 marriage certificate)

Attendance of two registration officers to conduct and                      £230.50

register your marriage at an Approved Venue for Civil
Marriage in the City of Leicester, Monday – Friday

(including the issue of 1 marriage certificate)

Attendance of two registration officers to conduct and                      £340.50 register your marriage at an Approved Venue for Civil
Marriage in the City of Leicester, Saturday

(including the issue of 1 marriage certificate)

Attendance of two registration officers to conduct and                      £390.50 register your marriage at an Approved Venue for Civil
Marriage in the City of Leicester, Sunday and Bank Holiday

(including the issue of 1 marriage certificate)

 

Each local authority sets the fees for approved venues. If you have chosen to be married outside of the City of Leicester, you should contact the Register Office with whom you have arranged for the attendance of two registration officers to conduct and register your marriage at the approved venue.

STATUTORY FEES FOR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES

Certificates issued by a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages,

requested and paid for at the time of the marriage registration:       £4.00 each

Certificates issued from a current Register by a Registrar of Births,

Deaths and Marriages, after the registration:                                     £7.00 each

Certificates issued by the Superintendent Registrar from a

completed and archived Marriage Register:                                        £10.00 each

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING FEES WILL APPLY WHERE A NOTICE OF MARRIAGE IS GIVEN AFTER 1ST OCTOBER 2010:

• £10.00 To change the date and time or the date or the time of a ceremony taking place in the City of Leicester.

• £5.00 For the re-issue of the brochure, confirmation and permit if original lost.

• £1.00 For the re-issue of duplicate permit if the original lost.

Payments can be made in person to Leicester City Council by cash, guaranteed cheque or credit / debit card, or by telephone using a credit / debit card.
