ICT at Leicester

The council’s ICT strategic framework

The council’s ICT strategies support our One Leicester commitment to be ambitious and bold in using new technology to improve the lives of the people of Leicester.

The diagram below shows how the council’s ICT strategy covers four levels of thinking - business outcomes, information, applications and infrastructure.

The council’s ICT strategic framework

The Information Management strategy considers how the council can effectively manage and exploit its information assets.

The Applications Strategy describes the council’s plans for maintaining and supporting key business systems and maximising the effectiveness of its investment in these systems by joining them up, both internally and with partner agencies, and to exploit the data they hold.

The Technical Infrastructure Strategy describes how technology will support delivery of the application and information strategies.

These three strategies, which collectively form our e-transforming Leicester programme, aim to deliver the Business Outcomes:

  • Enables location independent working

  • Gives staff and partners ready access to the tools and information necessary to do their jobs effectively and efficiently
  • Exploits information as a corporate asset
  • Facilitates self-service by staff and customers to drive down our operating costs
  • Represents best value, is secure and safe, environmental best practice and standards based
