Matthew Busko, Halima Girach and Grace Sykes are the BSF Youth Engagement Officers. It will be their job to ensure pupils get the chance to have their say about the BSF process.
Halima said: “We work together closely as a team, and we’re just starting to go out and visit schools to find out what pupils want to get out of the BSF project.”
Matthew added: “We talk to students to make sure that their voice is heard as their learning environment changes. It’s really important that they feel listened to as the BSF programme progresses – these are their schools and it’s really important that they feel engaged with the whole process.
Grace said: “It’s not just about changes to their learning environment – we want to inspire pupils to learn. Transforming the learning environment is part of the Strategy For Change agenda, looking at ways in which pupils can feel empowered to learn and get the most out of their education.
“Their school is their for them, so we want them to have an impact on the way it looks but also on the whole ethos of the school – the behaviour and expectations of pupils - and the way learning goes on in that school.
“The more involved pupils are, the more valued they’ll feel."
Matthew, Halima and Grace will be visiting all secondary schools in the coming months. To find out more about their schedule of visits, please email:
