Judgemeadow Community College

Judgemeadow
Judgemeadow Community College's new BSF building was completed in 2009, with staff and pupils enjoying its state-of-the-art modern teaching facilities.

The school was officially opened on 1st March 2010 by Vernon Coaker, the Minister for Schools and Learning.

Judgemeadow is an innovative and entrepreneurial school with more than 1,200 students aged 11-16, and is celebrating a recent Ofsted report in which it was judged "outstanding."

Inspectors praised the school's committed staff and outstanding curriculum, as well as students' outstanding behaviour and attitude towards learning.

The building itself offers a series of teaching "wings" projecting out from a central hub which houses the school's social and dining spaces.

The teaching wings are clusters of facilities arranged on different floors around faculty resource areas. The dining and social areas are glazed to give plenty of light and views outside.

The new school also features spacious outdoor sports areas, hard and soft play areas and a garden of reflection with dining space and a landscaped amphitheatre.

Helen Ryan, Divisional Director Property, the council division overseeing the BSF programme, says: “It is important that all the new schools we build provide learning environments and facilities that remain fresh and inspire not just the current generation of students but also for future generations; so building in flexibility and adaptability is vital.”
