Leicester’s Raising Attainment Plan is the key strategy designed to address low attainment and low aspirations of our learners. Through the Education Improvement Partnership (EIP), the Authority and all schools take a collaborative approach to raising standards, sharing good practice and supporting schools through enhanced leadership and management, coaching and mentoring, development of effective teaching and learning, personalised learning and development of effective performance management systems. The development of state of the art buildings and innovative approaches to teaching and learning made possible by BSF investment and strategic planning for change will further enhance achievement, confidence and self esteem of young people in Leicester. It will ensure that transformation of learning processes will be quicker, deeper and far reaching. We will ensure that schools' Strategies for Change and the resulting buildings reflect the learning and social needs of the local community.
Increasing choice, access and diversity
Three National Challenge Co-operative Trusts have been formed to provide a broader range of educational choices.
Integrated services
We are currently working to develop a plan offer to all children and young people that provides integrated neighbourhood services that are accessible, inclusive, sustainable where funding follows need. The development of our Integrated Service Hub (ISH) programme will help support school improvement and student progress across all stages of the school, through the early identification of need and support. In addition, the provision of extended services for young people, their families and the whole community will further enhance opportunities such as family learning, personalised support and providing for the needs of every young person and adult in the community.
Extended services offer a flexible and personalised approach to supporting young people and their families outside the school day and can offer innovative approaches to learning. Agreement has been reached to locate 5 ISH’s in secondary schools across the city. As schools join the BSF programme and detailed designs are being worked up these hubs will be planned into the facilities. New College in West Leicester already has an ISH located with the school and provides the blueprint for the rollout of these facilities across the city.
