The Service provides a range of development and preventative initiatives involving the application of psychology to increase school effectiveness and improve achievement.
These include professional training opportunities across the City for parents, teachers and others. Development work and training can be tailored for individual schools’ circumstances on request.
This work is an integral part of joint discussions between schools and their liaison psychologist early in each academic year, which identify the range of development work and training that can contribute to school effectiveness.
The Service also contributes to the range of continuing professional development opportunities within the LEA, devised to support Education Department and City Council priorities.
