Adoption leave and pay

If you have worked for your employer for 26 weeks or more in the week you are notified of a match, you are entitled to take 52 weeks of Statutory Adoption Leave.

 

Your partner can also take paternity leave as long as they have worked for their employer for 26 weeks or more in the week they are notified of a match.

 

You can choose when to start your adoption leave from the date of the child’s placement or from a fixed date which can be up to 14 days before the placement is expected to happen.

 

This is the legal minimum. Your employer may offer better benefits. Check with your Human Resources Department for more information.
