If you are about to be a father, or you will share the responsibility with your partner of bringing up a child (this includes adoptive fathers to be), you may be entitled to Ordinary Paternity Leave and pay, or Additional Paternity Leave and pay.
This is the legal minimum and some employers may offer better rights and entitlement. You will need to check with your Human Resources Department to see what you will be entitled to.
Time off for antenatal appointments
You do not have the legal right to have time off to attend antenatal classes with your partner. The right paid time off to attend only applies to pregnant employees.
However, some employers see this as an important time and allow employees to take paid time off, or make the time up another time.
