When children reach school age, childcare needs change. Childcare options like breakfast clubs, afterschool clubs and holiday playschemes can help parents manage their time.
Breakfast Clubs
-
These provide a safe place for your child to wait until school starts and many can provide a healthy, low cost breakfast
-
They normally run for less than two hours and therefore do not need to be registered with Ofsted.
After School Clubs
-
Usually open in the afternoon between 3.30pm and 6pm during term time
-
Some clubs take children from different schools and may provide a collection service
-
Most are based in schools, but they can also be at community centres and youth centres.
Holiday Playschemes
-
They can offer lots of activities, arts, sports and indoor and outdoor fun
-
Other schemes offer 'open access' where children can just turn up
-
Costs are kept to a minimum and many are free.
