Inter Library Loans Service

If we cannot obtain the item you have requested i.e. book, article, or talking books for visually impaired customers from our own stock, or we are unable to order it, we will ask if you would like us to borrow it from another library authority.

For this service there is a charge of:

£4.00 - for Leicester City Residents

£5.50 - for Non - Leicester City Residents

Free - for the Visually Impaired

  • The charge will be added to your account as soon as we have received the requested item.

  • We will notify you by phone, text or email when the item is ready for collection

  • We will keep the item for two weeks, but if it has not been collected by this time we will return it to the home Library Authority. (Inter Library Loans are non-renewable)

  • There is a charge for this service because it can cost up to £10 to borrow an item from another Authority. You will be required to pay for the item even if you do not collect it.

  • Although we will make every effort to obtain the reserved title as quickly as possible we regret that we are unable to guarantee a definite collection date. The items can take up to 8 weeks to be delivered.

  • You can request an Inter Library Loan online or at your local Library.

  • We may even consider purchasing the item to stock in our libraries. We would NOT charge you for this.
