National Libraries Day 4th February 2012

Celebrate National Libraries Day with us by borrowing a CD, DVD or Talking Book for FREE for one week on 4th February. 

We will also waive overdue charges on items returned on 4th February.

Charles Dickens 200th Anniversary

Join us for a Dickens evening on Tuesday 7th February from 5pm - 7.30pm at Knighton Library. The evening will comprise of readings from the works of Charles Dickens and refreshments. 

Members of Leicester Literary Community will present their favourite passages, and members of the public are invited to also join in the reading and present their own favourite passages. (Professional readers will be available to read on behalf of the coy!) Period costume is encouraged. Please do bring a copy of the work you wish to read/be read.

Please note that most of Dickens' work is available to download in EPublisher format from our webpage: http://digitallibrary.leicester.gov.uk  Look out for the additional books tag on the right of the screen. These will be free to download and keep.

The Costa Book Awards is one of the UK's most prestigious and popular literary prizes and recognises some of the most enjoyable books of the year by writers based in the UK and Ireland.

It’s unique for having five categories: First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children's Book.
