Meet Roopa Farooki
Roopa’s first novel, ‘Bitter Sweets’, was nominated for the Orange Award for New Writers 2007, and was followed by four further novels which have been long listed for the 2010 Orange Prize and the 2011 Impac Dublin Literary Award; published internationally and translated into a dozen languages. She will talk about her work and do a Q & A session.

Meet Alice Grist
Local girl Alice Grist is the author of two books. ‘The High Heeled Guide to Enlightenment’, charts Alice’s journey from party girl to sassy spiritual woman. Her second book is ‘The High Heeled Guide to Spiritual Living’. Alice is the founder and managing editor of http://soul-cafe.net, an online network and magazine for soulful and spiritual living. Alice is also a professional Tarot card reader.

Meet Bali Rai
Leicester born author Bali is now an established voice in the young adult/teenage market. His work is highly acclaimed in the UK and abroad. Many of his books have been shortlisted for prizes, with ‘(Un)arranged Marriage’ and ‘Rani & Sukh’ being particularly successful. Bali will talk about his work and his love of reading.

Meet Stephen Booth
Stephen is an international and award-winning crime writer. Creator of the popular Cooper & Fry series set in Derbyshire; he will talk about his work and do a Q & A session on how to start a novel. In recent years, he has become a Library Champion in support of the UK’s ‘Love Libraries’ campaign.

Meet Rod Duncan
Born in Wales, Rod Duncan now lives in Leicester with his wife and children. Rod often uses places in Leicester as a backdrop to his work. His novels ‘Backlash’, ‘Breakbeat’ and ‘Burnout’ follow a series of different characters through the same inner-city riot. ‘Backlash’ was shortlisted for the John Creasey Memorial Dagger for the best debut crime novel of 2003. Rod will be talking about his book ‘The Mentalist’ and will do a Q & A session on how he started writing.
