What's involved?

Governors work as part of a team with their Headteacher.  Together they determine the strategic direction of the school and establish aims, ethos, policies, procedures and performance targets that the Head and their staff must deliver on.  The governing body also checks to ensure that the school is making good progress and that the things that should be happening are actually happening!

Governors must meet, by law, at least three times a year.  Most governing bodies meet more regularly than this and there is an opportunity to work in greater detail with others on committees of the governing body if you wish to do so.
