Discovering Babies

Discovering Babies is a programmes put together by a task group of parents and practitioners who work with young children and their parents, children centre leaders and representatives from health visiting and speech and language therapy teams.  The programme is part of a preventative pathway that supports the development of communication skills and  will raise awareness of the importance of communicating with babies and how this helps them become confident communicators.

 

Aims of the programme?

  • To promote positive communication

  • To provide information to expectant parents

  • To improve emotional well-being of parent and child by supporting parent/child interaction and bonding

  • To provide information about early child development

  • To engage parents in their child’s early learning

  • To reduce social isolation through peer support

  • To identify additional support needs

 

 How long is the programme?

The programme has 13 sessions of about 1.5 hours in length.  The order of the session is not important but the content is.
