Promoting Language Development in the Early Years

Can be taken as a Postgraduate Certificate or as Part of P/T MA in Learning and Teaching at University of Leicester.
 
7 days at the university over one year with additional study for development work in own school/setting.

 

Target audience

Teachers in foundation stage provision in schools, children’s centres or other settings

 

Aims

  • To extend your understanding of children’s language and communication development;

  • To enable you to enrich the communication environment for children in your setting;

  • To extend your personal skills in learning and research.

Description

This innovative course is a collaboration between the University of Leicester School of Education, and the Speech and Language Therapy Division at De Montfort University. Designed for teachers and other professionals working in schools, children’s centres, nurseries and other settings, this is a practical, challenging and interesting course that will help you find ways of making learning even more enjoyable for the children and families you work with.

 

The course can be taken as a Postgraduate Certificate, or as one-third of a part-time Masters degree. The School of Education website gives details of other compatible options, at www.le.ac.uk/education.

 

Pre-requisite

At least a second-class honours degree or its equivalent, and QTS or suitable experience in an educational setting.  Leicester City teachers may wish to complete Get Going with Communication before doing this course.
