For participants to recognise the importance of attachment in children’s development and to understand how communication and language skills develop and how we can best support these skills.
Course description
This two-day (or 4 session) course is the universal level of training within the Talk matters! training framework. It focuses on the role of parents and practitioners in supporting the development of children’s communication and language skills.
The course covers the importance of attachment and explores the link between attachment and the development of communication and language skills. It introduces models of communication and explores the processes involved in understanding and using spoken language.
The course also covers typical development of communication and language skills. It discusses the difficulties children may experience in communicating and explores strategies and activities to support them.
Course outcomes:
By the end of this course participants will have:

an awareness of factors that promote and inhibit attachment
