Representations of the Buddha

Cobra Buddha in Dhyana-mudra (represents total concentration in meditation)
Sakyamuni Buddha in Bhumisparsa-mudra (literally “earth-touching”)
Nepalese-style Buddha in Bhumisparsa-mudra (literally “earth-touching”)

Other artefacts
Stupa ~ for holding relics of the Buddha. Also of symbolic significance.
Butter lamp ~ used at Wesak.
Singing bowl and stick ~ the stick can be run around the edge of the bowl, or used to strike the bowl gently, to make pure sounds that assist meditation.
Prayer beads & counters
Tibetan Prayer wheel ~ contains numerous mantras such as “Om mani padme hum”.
Prayer flags
Ghanta ~ bell often associated with Tantric Buddhism. Held in the left hand it represents the female aspect and is used with the Vajra in ritual.
Vajra or Dorje ~ diamond “thunderbolt or sceptre” is held in the right hand and represents masculine attributes; it symbolises true compassion.
Green Tara thanka ~ a cloth wall-hanging. May be used for meditation.
