The RE Centre has 14 of these new boxes available for loan.
There are 2 boxes for each of the six major faiths and 2 of secular stories.
The stories are told in a specific way using artefacts and models; there is a script in each box.
At the end of the story there follows some ‘I wonder’ discussion…….then an opportunity for the children to create a representation of some part of the story or to make something which the story has made them think about. The two helpers gently support these activities. The children’s creativity is a vital part of the story-telling experience, involving children in an emotional response to what they have heard.
15-20 minutes is set aside for this then the children come together with their art work to share in the circle.
Have a small ‘feast’ together sharing grapes or biscuits to enjoy the celebration.
The boxes were created by Marilyn Bowles (Willowbrook Primary School), Michelle Green (Wolsey House Primary School) and Kerrie Wood (Humberstone Infant School) using a NATRE Curriculum Bursary
