Newly Qualified Teachers

NQT Pic

Leicester City Council runs an extensive support programme for all Newly Qualified Teachers.  The programme is currently free to all Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) at Leicester City maintained schools and includes:

  • an individual programme of professional development, support, monitoring and assessment

  • a suite of Continuing Professional Development courses

  • support to schools, induction tutors and newly qualified teachers on all aspects of their induction year

We are seeking to obtain the best teachers available to join our Primary Newly Qualified Teacher programme and a recruitment event is being run on the 20th March 2012 at the Highpoint Conference Centre.  This is a recruitment event for those leaving Initial Teacher Training and starting as Newly Qualified Teachers in September and who are interested in working in Leicester City primary schools.

The recruitment event will include a short interview and, depending on the outcome, you will be placed in an NQT ‘pool’.  The pool list will be forwarded to all primary school Headteachers across Leicester, by request, and they will contact you to arrange an interview at the school as part of their selection process.
