Stray Dogs found within the City Boundaries

Environmental Protection Act 1990 Sections 149-151 

 

The Dog Warden service will respond to complaints regarding stray dogs. Dog Wardens collect all dogs from the customer's address or patrol the area where the dog was last seen.

Stray dogs collected will be taken to Willow Tree Kennels, 95 Nottingham Road, Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire, LE12 8HZ, Tel: 07761549180.
 

If a dogs owner is identified they will be advised that their dog has strayed and been removed to our kennelling provider:

Stray dogs are dealt with under the above Act. Owners wishing to reclaim their dog must pay the relevant charges (kennelling/fine/vet fees) before the dog is released. Advice on responsible dog ownership will be given to owners reclaiming their dog.

 

ALL CHARGES TO BE PAID TO KENNELING PROVIDER WHEN CLAIMING A DOG.

If you have difficulty with transport to the kennels, speak to them regarding paying an extra fee to have the dog returned home. 

 

Information about having your dog microchipped (permanently identified) is available form the RSPCA website*

Police stations no longer accept stray dogs.

8.00am - 6.00pm Mon - Fri

6.00pm - 9.00pm Mon - Fri

9.00am - 9.00pm Weekends & Bank Holidays

You will be advised of a time and handover location where you can take the dog. Dogs that cannot be handed over before 9.30pm will not be dealt with until the following morning.
