The National Land & Property Gazetteer (NLPG) is the definitive address list that provides unique identification of properties and conforms to the British Standard BS 7666:2006. The NLPG covers the whole of England and Wales and contains more than 30 million residential, business and non-mailing addresses. It has close links with Scottish authorities in a project funded by the Scottish Executive, with the aim of providing a complete address database for Great Britain.
The NLPG is a comprehensive and continually updated database, created by every local authority in the country. Local authorities have legal responsibility for street naming and numbering of property, and each council maintains the gazetteer within its own area, using information from planning applications and other sources such as building control, council tax, business rates and the electoral roll.
The Council's Gazetteer is mapped using our City StreAtZ mapping system. You can search for any address in the city using City StreAtZ, and view Gazetteer and other data about properties.
