The Aylestone Village Conservation Area was declared in February 1975. Following an appraisal, the boundaries were amended in May 2008, and the conservation area now has an area of approximately 18.09 hectares. This large conservation area is centred on Aylestone Parish Church, and stretches from Hall Lane in the north to Sanvey Lane and the canal in the south.
The Aylestone Village Conservation Area Character Appraisal was approved in March 2008.

Two properties on Old Church Street are covered by an Article Four Direction, which limits the rights of householders to carry out work to their properties without planning permission.
