Evington Footpath Conservation Area Character Appraisal

Evington Footpath Conservation Area

The City Council adopted the Evington Footpath Conservation Area Character Appraisal in May 2001 as supplementary planning guidance to the City of Leicester Local Plan. Click the link at the bottom of this page to view the first review of the Character Appraisal, which was adopted in May 2008.

The Council has a duty to preserve and enhance the character and appearance of conservation areas and the purpose of the Character Appraisal is to identify the factors which make Evington Footpath an area of special architectural and historic interest. The statement will enable the Council, when dealing with planning applications, to ensure that the development will help to preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the area. It is not the purpose of a conservation area to prevent change but to manage change in the light of the existing character of the area.
