Granby Street is the newest of Leicester's conservation areas, being adopted in June 2006. As originally designated, it covered an area of approximately 3.27 hectares, from Gallowtree Gate in the north-west to London Road in the south-east.
In January 2007, the boundary was amended, and the area of the conservation area is now approximately 3.74 hectares. A character appraisal was approved at this date.
