Ashton Green (Beaumont Leys - North-West Leicester) is a planned sustainable urban extension of 3,000 homes for city. It will shape Leicester as Britain’s sustainable city by delivering a distinctive, safe, green and well connected place.

Hamilton is located in the north-east of Leicester and is one of two major ‘Urban Extensions’ in the City. Development began here in the late 1980s.

In the UK Landscape Awards 2010, Leicester City Council was commended in the East Midlands region for its entry for Freemen's Meadow - Bede Island South. The UK Landscape Award is in recognition of the good practice used by the council to ensure the development was designed and created to the highest possible standard.
