The Evaluation of Trees for Protection: The Council's Policy

The Council's Development Control Committee, on 18th January 2005, approved formal guidance to be followed when trees are considered for protection by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs).

The purpose of the guidance is to set out criteria used to make, vary or revoke TPOs. The criteria are taken from Government guidance on good practice. The guidance covers issues such as visual impact, woodlands and groups of trees, conservation areas and expedience in making TPOs.
