Listed Building Consent

Many buildings in Leicester have been listed due to their architectural or historic interest. The planning system is concerned with protecting the features and character of these buildings. For more information, go to our Listed Buildings pages.

Listed building consent is required for works for the total or partial demolition of a listed building, for extensions, or for external or internal alterations. You can make a listed building consent application online via the Planning Portal; or you can download paper forms (Form number 011) from our Application Forms page.

Note that planning permission will also be needed for most external alterations. Please contact Planning for further information, or to discuss proposals.
