Local Development Framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a collection of Local Development Documents produced by the City Council to deliver the spatial planning strategy for the City. The Core Strategy is the key plan within the LDF.

Core Strategy

The Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD)  sets out the vision, objectives and spatial strategy for the City. The Core Strategy Submission document was submitted on 2nd December 2009 for examination by a planning inspector. The Inspector's report has been published and the Core Strategy has been found sound. The Core Strategy was adopted by the City Council on 25th November 2010.

Saved City of Leicester Local Plan Policies

The Local Plan was adopted in January 2006.

The Core Strategy (Appendix 2) indentifies local plan policies that are saved after 25th November 2010.

Site Allocations and Development Management Policies DPD

The Site Allocations and Development Management Policies DPD will identify land for future development to help deliver the objectives of the Core Strategy. More information about the current stage of production can found on the site allocations page.

Joint Waste Development Framework

The City and County Councils are preparing a number of waste local development documents. The Waste Development Framework will replace the existing Waste Local Plan.

Waste Core Strategy and Development Control Policies DPD

The public examination took place between 24-27 February 2009 at Leicestershire County Council. The plan was found sound by the Planning Inspectorate and has been formally adopted as council policy. More details can be found on the Waste Core Strategy pages.

Waste Site Allocations DPD

The Waste Site allocations DPD will be subject to formal public consultation in February 2011 and after this it will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government for examination. The document is programmed to be adopted early 2012.
