Core Strategy: Examination
The Core Strategy Submission Document December 2009 was submitted to the Secretary of State on 2 December 2009 for examination.
The Secretary of State appointed Mary Travers BA (HONS) DIPTP MRTPI of the Planning Inspectorate to conduct the examination to determine whether the Core Strategy is sound and legally compliant.
Inspector's Report
The inspector issued her report on 19th August 2010. She has concluded that the Core Strategy is sound. The Council will adopt the Core Strategy at its meeting on 25th November 2010.
Changes to National and Regional Planning Policy
The council made a statement on the impact of the Government's announcement on the abolition of Regional Spatial Strategies and changes to national planning policy. The statement can be downloaded here.
Those who made representations previously on the Core Strategy are invited by the planning inspectorate to make comments on this statement.
Consultation on Further Proposed Changes
The Council made further proposed changes to the Core Strategy Submission Document following the public hearing sessions. They were published for public consultation from 24 May 2010 to 22 June 2010. The list of changes and an Explanatory Statement can be downloaded here.
Hearing
The Hearing commenced at 10:00 on 20 April and was held over two weeks until 29 April 2010 in the Conference Suite at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, 9 Newarke Street, Leicester. The Programme and List of Matters and Issues for Examination can be downloaded below.
Consultation on Proposed Changes
The Council has proposed changes to the Core Strategy Submission Document. They were published for public consultation from the 12 April until 10 May 2010. The list of changes and an Explanatory Statement can be downloaded below.
Pre Hearing Meeting
A Pre Hearing Meeting to explain and discuss the procedural and administrative matters relating to the management of the Examination was held on Thursday 4 March at 10:00.

Programme Officer
Mrs Alison Smith has been appointed as an independent Programme Officer under the direction of the Inspector. She is responsible for the administration of the Core Strategy examination and acts as liaison between the Council and the Inspector. Any communications for the Inspector should be made through her.
