The City of Leicester Local Plan was adopted by the City Council on 16 January 2006 and will provide planning guidance for the City up to 2016.
Written Statement On-Line
The written Statement can be accessed online by clicking the links on the left-hand side of this page.
Each subject area of the Local Plan Written Statement sets out policies and proposals (in heavier print and highlighted in a shaded box) alongside an explanation of their background, purpose or justification. The intention is to use a mix of promotion and control to influence development, land use and transportation along sustainable lines.
Within these chapters, where policies and proposals specifically contain references to areas shown on the Proposals Map, these are shown as hyperlinks. You can click on these to open a policy-specific layer of the Proposals Map within City StreAtZ, the Council's mapping system. Once open, all the layers of the Proposals Map can then be loaded to put these policies in context of surrounding policy areas. Go to our Instructions for using City StreAtZ for help on using this system.

Additional planning guidance

Further guidance may be prepared to support the adopted policies of this Plan; any such guidance will be approved by the City Council following public consultation and will be a material factor in the consideration of subsequent development proposals.
