The city council is undertaking a continuous programme of environmental improvements to the city's streets and spaces, using high quality materials.

This will make an important contribution to enhancing the city's economy and ensuring that it is a great place to live, work, visit, shop and play.


New public square at historic heart of the city

In March 2012, City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby unveiled plans to create a new public open space Jubilee Square, to be located at St Nicholas Place in the historic heart of Leicester city centre. Read more about Jubilee Square.


Redesign of Humberstone Gate East

Over the period 2011-2012, the council will be redesigning Humberstone Gate East to improve the area particularly for bus users, traders and pedestrians. View the Humberstone Gate East scheme.
