Gallowtree Gate improvements were the first phase of the Streets + Spaces regeneration project, and the scheme was completed in November 2006. Some 15,000 granite slabs in shades of mid grey, dark grey and pink were used as part of the street's £1.1 million refurbishment.
Gallowtree Gate has been totally reconstructed, with new concrete foundations laid beneath the granite slabs, and hi-tech mortars and grouts ensuring a high quality finish.
The last of the granite paving slabs was laid on Gallowtree Gate by Cllr Roman Scuplak in November 2006.
