Sustainable homes for people

Welcome to the Ashton Green website.

Ashton Green is a planned sustainable urban extension of 3,000 homes for the city. It will shape Leicester as Britain’s sustainable city by delivering a distinctive, safe, green and well connected place. It will become a thriving, prosperous mixed community with a dynamic heart and strong identity within the city.

Leicester has a need for new homes, over 20,000 within 20 years. Ashton Green has been a strategic housing allocation for many years and it will play a major role in delivering this challenging target for housing growth. There is a renewed commitment to make Ashton Green a reality through a new vision and masterplan with the aim of becoming the region’s leading example of sustainable development.

Latest News (October 2011) - Phase A Delivery Plan

Preparation is underway to bring the first phase of development to the market in early 2012. The Council will be seeking to procure a long development partner to deliver new homes at Ashton Green from 2013.

The outline planning application received approval at the Council's Planning and Development Control Committee on 20 December 2010 and the Decision Notice is now available to download. The original submission documents are available either to download via the Council's planning database website, direct link below or can be provided on a CD on request.
