When will development begin at Ashton Green ?
Consultation on the proposals in the masterplan commenced in November 2009. During this process the Ashton Green Project Board aimed to achieve a better understanding of the support for the proposals. The outcomes from the consultation process have been used to further refine the final masterplan that supported the submission of an outline planning application in June 2010.
The Decision Notice on the Outline Planning Permission in March 2011 was an important milestone towards delivery. Work on the delivery strategy options and implementation planning has been on-going during 2011 and will enable the developer procurement process to commence in early 2012.
Securing a long term development partnership for the early phases of Ashton Green will be a complicated and demanding process that is likely take 12 to 18 months of complex negotiations. It is anticipated that the chosen development partner will make a start on the first phase of infrastructure on site in 2013 with new homes to follow there after.
